Our Rhythm and Pitch Notation Flipcharts are an integral part of the Music Through Recorder Program. Students learn to
encode their playing experiences into staff notation instead of
decoding staff notation to play.
Our 16 RHYTHM CHARTS show rhythm visually, with equal space for each beat, but now spaced NOTES substitute for the well-loved letters and dashes. Words to familiar songs spaced under the notes help with the transition to the staff. Classes enjoy regular short drills using
Rhythm Charts.
Our 16 PITCH CHARTS relate the staff to the keyboard. By using a keyboard we can better demonstrate pitch visually. Use our PITCH CHARTS to tie up concepts of
up, down, high, low; steps, skips, repeats; scales, clefs, intervals.
When the flip charts are used regularly for a few minutes each classtime, students glide easily from Letter Notation, making a smooth transition.
